Who Invented Soccer ?

This question is very difficult. No one actually knows who invented soccer. To prove this point, there are some historical evidences. Many cultures have played a similar game in the past. It is very difficult to say which country played it first.

If we look at the Hamburg Museum of Ethnology, the question can be very much clear to us. Hamburg Museum of Ethnology has an exhibit. It can help us understand games similar to soccer played in the past.

This exhibit tells us the tale of 6,000-year-old stone balls found in the USA. They are similar to ones used by Native Americans soccer-like games.

The same case is with the Japan. A pair of black-and-red, ankle-length boots can be noticed.
They were used from the seventh century onwards in the game "kemari”. In this game, teams used to kick the ball and try to avoid it from touching the ground.

A similar game used to be played in Mexico. It is called "Ulama". It is believed to be played 1,500 years BC. Players used to strike the ball with their hips.

It is considered that the first inter-continental soccer match was played in Greenland in 1586.
It was played between the John Davis, who was an English explorer, and the people of Godthab.

The modern rules and the structure were initially set down in the Italian city of Florence. It all happened in the 16th century. Till then, there was no concept of wearing of team colors, referees and playing positions.
